Black Golden Elegant Hat – Bugis Kufi Creased Oval Top Indonesian Traditional Muslim Cap Embroidered Rigid Islamic Head Cover

A black and gold kufi hat exclusively designed and crafted for TheKufi brand. This Indonesian rigid Bugis style golden-yellow and black kufi hat features intricate machine embroidery. The unique oval design, with creased top, is inspired by the ethnic hats worn by the people of the Bugis or Buginese culture. In the Bugis language they are called “Peci Bone Bugis”. The Bugis are natives to the Island of Sulawesi, which is Indonesia’s third-largest island.

The Bugis people have a varied and vast make-up with rich heritage and history. The original hat is known as a songkok or peci in the Indonesian language. The golden yellow-tone thread embroidery covers the bottom portion of the kufi with a round circle decorating the top. The height of this black and gold kufi hat peaks at approximately 3.5 inches (8.90cm), weighing about 2 ounces (83 grams). The top of this black and gold kufi is creased using a hot iron mold to give an elegant touch.

The rigid base of this black and gold kufi is made from a blend of 80% polyester and 20% cotton BSW fabric. BSW fabric is a heavy-duty blend fabric which is also used in making upholstery. The kufi holds its form because it is reinforced with a stiffening material between the inside and outside fabric to make it rigid. Thus, the hat will not fold. This composition ensures both durability and comfort. The embroidery is meticulously applied by machine with a golden-yellow nylon and polyester thread. The original Bugis hats were worn by kings and consisted of real gold metallic thread and woven straw. Naturally, we use gold-colored polyester thread instead of real gold. This Bugis style black and gold kufi hat is carefully assembled by hand after the machine embroidery is completed. We take great care to ensure the workmanship of this black and gold kufi is above standard with top-notch finishing.
