This Indonesian rigid Bugis style golden kufi hat has features detailed machine embroidery. These Bugis Muslim Hats are rounded in shape, and the design is inspired by the hats worn by men of the ethnic Bugis or Buginese culture in Indonesia. In the language of the Bugis, they are called “Peci Bone Bugis.” The Bugis are indigenous to the Island of Sulawesi which is the third largest Island in Indonesia. Their make-up is diverse and extensive and their heritage is rich in history. The original Bugis Muslim Hat it was called songkok or peci in Indonesian language. This gold tone embroidery covers the entire hat.

This Bugis Muslim Hat is about 2.8 inches (7 cm) high and weighs approximately 2 ounces (83 grams).

This Bugis Muslim Hat consists of three layers. An outer layer, a layer of thick rubber foam in the middle and polyester spunbond fabric for inner lining. The outer layer of this golden kufi is made from a blend of 80% polyester and 20% cotton BSW fabric. BSW fabric is a heavy-duty blend fabric also used in making some upholstery items. The kufi holds its form because it is reinforced with a foam stiffening material between the inside and outside fabric to make it rigid. This composition ensures both durability and comfort. The embroidery is meticulously applied by machine with a golden-yellow nylon and polyester thread.

The original Bugis hats were worn by kings and sultans and consisted of pure gold metallic thread and thin woven straw. This embroidered Bugis Muslim Hat is carefully assembled by hand after the machine embroidery is completed. We take great care to ensure the workmanship of this gold kufi is above standard with top-notch finishing. The weight of this kufi is around 53gr and it has a thickness of 3.5mms.
